INGERSOLL-RAND -

Compressed Air Dryers

Air compressor dryers from Ingersoll Rand are designed to suppress the dew point of compressed air by removing moisture from it before the air condenses into a harmful liquid. These dryers offer multi-stage filtring to remove residual contaminants and improve system efficiency & product quality. Their energy-efficient design features a refrigeration system combined with thermal mass to store cold energy efficiently. These dryers are equipped with an easy-to-use microprocessor controller to gain maximum control over the working of the dryer while monitoring current conditions. Ingersoll dryers feature multiple alarm displays to minimise downtime and energy-saving mode for automatic shut off. Some models come with centrifugal separation to separate and remove moisture from the chilled air. Choose from a wide range of Ingersoll Rand compressed air dryers, available in single- and three-phase models on Raptor Supplies.

Working Mechanism

  • When the compressed air enters the dryer, it passes through one of the towers filled with the desiccant material.
  • As the air moves through the desiccant, the moisture in the air is adsorbed by the desiccant material, leaving behind dry compressed air.
  • The dry air then exits the dryer and is ready for use in various industrial applications.
  • Once the first tower has reached its capacity to absorb moisture, the dryer switches over to the second tower, while the first tower goes through a regeneration cycle.
  • During the regeneration cycle, the second tower is shut off and the first tower is depressurised and the desiccant is heated using electric heaters or natural gas burners.
  • The heat source evaporates the moisture that was adsorbed by the desiccant and vented out of the dryer as hot, moist air.
  • The hot, moist air is then purged from the tower using a purge air flow, which carries away the moisture and vents it outside the dryer.
  • The regenerated first tower is then re-pressurised and the drying cycle resumes with the second tower now in the regeneration cycle.

Features

Ingersoll Rand Air Dryers:

  • They have microprocessor controllers and additional air filters to remove oil and contaminants.
  • These dryers are designed for applications with high air flow (up to 120 cfm).
  • Their bodies feature stainless steel construction to resist contamination due to water vapour produced during the operation.

Hankison Modular Desiccant Air Dryers:

  • These desiccant dryers have aluminium components to resist corrosion due to moisture.
  • They prevent fluidisation and slow / complete regeneration to avoid desiccant ageing.
  • These units have a strong internal sound attenuation, ensuring quiet operation.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I select the right size of regenerative desiccant compressed air dryer for my application?

Consider factors like the flow rate & pressure of the compressed air, the level of moisture in the compressed air and the desired dew point.

How to maintain regenerative desiccant air dryers?

Regular maintenance of these compressed air dryers involves checking & replacing the desiccant material, cleaning and inspecting the valves & piping, checking & replacing the filters and monitoring the performance of the dryer.

How to ensure safety during the regeneration process?

  • The desiccant material gets hot during the regeneration process, handle it with caution.
  • Ensure proper ventilation of hot air used for regeneration.

How do I determine the appropriate dew point for my compressed air application?

The correct dew point for any compressed air application depends on the sensitivity of the equipment or process to moisture, the environmental conditions and the safety & quality requirements.

What is the difference between a heated and heatless air dryer?

Heated desiccant dryers use heat, while heatless dryers use dry air (generated by them) to remove water vapour from the desiccant material.
