Sinker Nails

Sinker nails are used for interior designing, sheathing, carpentry, construction & wood framing applications. They have a flat, tapering head which allows them to be driven flush with the surface, thereby counter-sinking into it. These checkered nails can be removed using nail kickers, nail jacks, hammer claws, pry bars, pliers, reciprocating saws and putty knives. These vinyl-coated sinkers are composed of steel alloy for enhanced corrosion resistance and durability.

Features

  • Sinker nails feature durable adhesive vinyl coating to easily drive in and improve holding power.
  • The smooth / plain shank permits them to be driven into wood easily.
  • These units come in sizes ranging from 4d to 20d .
  • They are equipped with a grid-stamped head to prevent slippage during hammer strikes.
  • They have thicknesses ranging from 7 to 14 gauge and are available in packs containing up to 4260 pieces.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does 'd' in the size of sinker nails denote?

'd' signifies the length of a nail (including the head) by its penny size. 'd' stands for denarius, which is an ancient Roman coin that became connected with the old British penny over time. The longer the nail, the larger the penny size.

What is the difference between sinker nails and common nails?

  • Sinker nails have thinner diameters, coated shanks and smaller heads that are checkered or textured.
  • Common nails are used for rough finishing jobs like temporary framing, while sinker nails are ideal for wooden frame construction.
