602, 604, 624 Series Straight Line Action Clamps
These Destaco 602, 604 & 624 Series straight line action clamps are used in the metalworking, aerospace, automotive and food & packaging industries for applying clamping force sideways rather than from the top (securing the workpiece in limited space). They come equipped with a lever handle that engages the plunger to press against the workpiece & hold it in place while tensioning devices, fixturing, welding, testing, plastic injection molding, CNC machining, assembling and staking or light pressworking of industrial equipment. Besides locking in the extended position, these straight line action clamps also allow handle rotation and falling below the mounting plane to be locked in the retracted position. These straight line clamps feature a low profile and compact design for installation in areas with space constraint and come with an ergonomic handle, designed specifically to reduce hand fatigue while working. Destaco 602, 604 & 624 Series straight line action clamps come integrated with an easy to operate push / pull handle that moves the plunger in & out along its axis. These straight line action clamps feature a flanged base with threaded holes that help in quick & secure through mounting of the clamps to a worktable / flat surface. These straight line action clamp units are capable of holding loads up to 700 lb and are made of steel / stainless steel for structural rigidity & resisting corrosion on exposed surfaces.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does a straight line action clamp work?
A straight line clamp includes a sliding plunger to provide straight line clamping action. The plunger can be locked in either pulling or pushing direction for holding workpieces.
Which grease is ideal for Destaco clamps for their rebuilding?
A coupling grease like Mobil XTC should be used when dealing with Destaco mechanical clamps, while the Magnalube G grease is great for use with pneumatic cylinder seals.
What does the clamp's holding capacity mean ?
The clamp's holding capacity or holding force is basically the capability of a clamp for holding down mechanical equipment or sheet metal while assembling automotive parts or during similar manufacturing processes.
What is the significance of the red colour of the handle of Destaco clamps?
There is no such significance of the colour of the clamp's handle, as it only represents a recognisable area. This helps operators in finding the handle quickly & easily.
What does clamping force mean?
Clamping force is the amount of force actually applied to the workpiece by closing & locking the clamp. It is normally less than the stated holding capacity. The actual clamping force depends on various factors, including cylinder bore, cylinder area, spindle position (clamping arm length) and available air pressure. In most cases, the clamping force is approximately 2 to 3 times the force exerted by a pneumatic cylinder.
Does Destaco supply any water resistant clamp sensors?
Yes, Destaco also supplies inductive sensors designed in accordance with IP65 standards to ensure protection from powerful hydraulic jets, dust & heavy rain.
