Working Mechanism

  • When normal current flows through the circuit, the fuse element remains cool and intact.
  • When an overcurrent or short-circuit occurs and the current exceeds the rated current, the fuse element becomes hot & melts to break the circuit.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the interrupt rating of these fuses?

Eaton offers HCL fuses with an interrupt rating of up to 61 kAIC.

What is the difference between single-barrel and double-barrel fuses?

A single-barrel fuse has only one element that fuses in case of overcurrent. Dual-barrel fuse contains two fuse elements within the same enclosure, each with its own melting characteristics. They allow the fuse to protect against both overcurrent and overvoltage faults to provide a higher level of protection.

What is the non-disconnect mounting method?

Non-disconnect mounting of a fuse refers to a type of fuse installation where the fuse cannot be disconnected from the circuit while it is in operation. The non-disconnect feature prevents accidental removal of the fuse to avoid dangerous arc flash or other electrical hazards.

What is the difference between a fuse and a breaker?

A fuse uses a metal filament that melts when the current flowing through it exceeds a certain level, breaking the circuit. The breaker, on the other hand, uses a mechanical mechanism to open and close the circuit.
