Vacuum Pump
Robinair vacuum pumps are designed for removing air and moisture from A/C systems. These systems have high sensitivity to contaminants and moisture. These vacuum pumps are suitable for refrigeration systems using HFCs, CFCs & HCFCs in conjunction with ester oil, mineral oil, alkylbenzene oil and PAG oil as lubricants. Robinair vacuum pumps feature two-stage design for cleaning the refrigeration system more thoroughly as opposed to single-stage pumps. These pumps start pumping at relatively low pressure for generating a deeper vacuum. They have offset rotary vanes for building powerful compression inside the pumping chamber for reducing system pressure while vaporising moisture. Robinair vacuum pumps have a durable polycarbonate base for improving pump balance while minimising vibrations during operation. These pumps further have an oil drain valve at the bottom of the oil reservoir for ensuring complete draining. They feature die-cast aluminium housing for reducing the overall weight of the pump while retaining durability.
Working Mechanism
Over time, moisture gets introduced to the refrigerant inside the refrigeration system. Robinair vacuum pumps are used with refrigeration systems using HFCs, CFCs & HCFCs in conjunction with ester oil, mineral oil, alkylbenzene oil and PAG oil as lubricants. These vacuum pumps remove the accumulated moisture by reducing the pressure within the refrigeration system. While reducing the pressure, these pumps vaporise the moisture and exhaust it along with the air.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a vacuum pump be used overnight?
The vacuum pump should be allowed to operate overnight only after inspecting that the drained pump oil reveals little to no moisture quantity. The pump should be left ON under supervision.
How often should users change vacuum pump oil?
Users should change Robinair vacuum pump oil once the oil inside the pump seems contaminated (when observed through the sight glass). Usually, the oil turns brown or turns into foam. Even without these symptoms, the user should change the pump oil after every 100 hours of pump operation.
What oil should users use for Robinair vacuum pumps?
Users should fill Robinair vacuum pumps with premium oil. These types of oils are designed to maintain viscosity even at high-temperature values. These types of oil also improve the pump's capability against cold weather starts.
What is the viscosity of vacuum pump oil?
The viscosity of vacuum pump oil is between 68 to 77 cst units. This value is for the temperature at 104 degrees F.
How much oil does Robinair vacuum pump hold?
Robinair vacuum pumps hold up to 1 pound of oil. To fill the oil, the user should first remove the contained oil by removing the oil drain plug. The user should fill the vacuum pump oil reservoir until the oil level shows to the bottom of the sight glass.
How to maintain Robinair vacuum pumps?
Robinair vacuum pumps do not require frequent maintenance. However, the user should replace the oil consistently to ensure the smooth operation of the pump. The user should also occasionally clean the intake filter of the pump from accumulated dirt & debris. Also, clean the intake & outlet ports of the pump to ensure smooth flow of the refrigerant from the refrigeration system.
