Working Mechanism

  • The valve's pilot remains closed until the downstream pressure reaches the unload setting.
  • The pilot then opens and pressurises the unloader valve.
  • This pressure forces the unloader valve to open and vent the excess air from the compressor to the atmosphere.
  • As the compressed air downstream is used and the pressure drops to the load setting the pilot closes and depressurises the unloader valve.
  • The unloader valve then closes, the pressure begins to build again and the cycle is repeated.

  • These unloader valves protect the compressor pump from the strain of working against pressure during startup, putting less stress on the pump and increasing its operating life.
  • The pilot valve maintains a set pressure range while the engine continues to run in between the cycles of the pump.
  • The check valve prevents backflow as the compressor builds pressure.
  • These valves withstand a maximum temperature and pressure of 400 degrees F and 250 psi, respectively.
