Working Mechanism

  • These circuit breakers have a trip unit consisting a thermal-magnetic element that senses the current in the circuit.
  • When the current exceeds the breaker's rated capacity, the thermal element heats up and the magnetic element generates a magnetic field.
  • This causes the breaker's trip mechanism to activate and open the breaker's contacts.
  • Thus, interrupting the flow of current and protecting the electrical system.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it possible to reset an MCCB after it has tripped?

Yes, you can reset these MCCBs after they have tripped, provided that the fault has been cleared. You can manually reset the breaker by switching it back to the on position.

What are the advantages of the three-pole circuit breakers?

A three-pole circuit breaker can protect up to three separate circuits, making it useful in panelboards and switchboards having dense circuits.
