Working Mechanism

  • Malin Co. Safety lock wires are wounded on fasteners / nuts using the single-wire or double-twist application method.
  • These safety lock wires are installed using the "Double Twist" method that is employed by twisting two strands of wire together inside the fasteners.
  • The single-strand formation method of lock wiring is employed in closely spaced applications like electrical systems.
  • Users should be careful during the twisting of wire to keep the wire tight without overstressing.
  • The wire should be pulled tightly while maintaining the tension in the wounding direction.
  • When the wire is wound around the nuts, their ends should be curled & bent to avoid loosening.

Features

  • Malin Co. safety Inconel lock wires are threaded through a fastener, twisted and tightened and then wound around another part to anchor its place.
  • They feature an exclusive canister that is moulded from high-density polyethylene to secure wires from getting degraded and other corrosive materials.
  • These wires are colour coded cans offering easy lock wire recognition.

Standards and Approvals

  • ASTM B166

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the major difference between Inconel and stainless steel?

Inconel is much more expensive than stainless steel alloys. It also offers superior corrosion resistance and robustness at high temperatures.

Is Inconel alloy stronger in comparison to steel?

Inconel alloys are more robust than stainless steel at higher temperatures. They're also resistant to oxidation and scaling and are ideal for extreme environments.

What is an Inconel safety wire?

Inconel Alloy 600 is a nickel-chromium alloy with exceptional carburization and good oxidation resistance. The high nickel content of these wires provides superior resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking.

What kind of metal is Inconel?

Inconel is a class of nickel-chrome-based superalloys having features like oxidation resistance, high corrosion resistance and strength at high temperatures.
